A List of Things to Bring to Your Tax Appointment

THINGS TO BRING

To make your time with JL Accounting efficient and effective, we compiled this list of things to bring to your tax appointment.

New clients should bring:

  • Last year’s tax returns
  • Birthdates and social security numbers for every member of your household

All clients should bring:

  • Current year’s W-2s and 1099s
  • Any Affordable Care Act forms (1095a) and healthcare savings account forms (5498SA)
  • Mortgage Interest statement (1098) and real estate tax paid
  • Any K-1s issued
  • Cost basis of securities sold during the year, including purchase date
  • Income and expenses of rental property
  • Income and expenses of sole proprietor businesses
  • Statement of charitable contributions made during the tax year
  • Miles driven for business purposes
  • Statement of childcare expenses
  • Statement of tuition paid to accredited colleges
  • Statement of tuition paid to private school (K – 12th grade)
  • List of estimated taxes paid to IRS and states
